UtterList ("we", "our", or "us") operates the UtterList mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Grocery List Data

We store your grocery lists, item names, quantities, and checked status locally on your device. If you use the list sharing feature, this data is also stored on our cloud servers (Supabase) to enable real-time collaboration.

1.2 Audio & Voice Data

When you use the voice input or audio transcription feature, we temporarily process your audio recordings to convert speech into grocery list items. Audio is sent to Google Gemini API for transcription and is not stored permanently by us after processing.

1.3 Subscription Information

If you subscribe to UtterList Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We do not directly collect or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.).

1.4 Advertising Data

We display ads within the App using Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google AdMob may collect or receive information such as:

• Android Advertising ID (AAID) — a resettable device identifier used for ad targeting and measurement
• iOS Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) — Apple's equivalent resettable device identifier
• General location (IP-based, not precise GPS)
• App usage and interaction data
• Device type, operating system, and language settings

Google uses this information to serve relevant, personalized ads and to measure ad performance. For more information on how Google uses this data, see Google's Advertising Privacy Policy.

You can limit ad tracking or reset your advertising ID through your device settings:

• iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
• Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads

1.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not require account creation or login
• We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
• We do not collect precise location data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide and maintain the App's functionality
• Process your voice recordings into grocery list items
• Enable real-time list sharing and collaboration
• Manage your subscription status
• Sync your lists with home screen widgets
• Display relevant advertisements

4. Data Storage & Security

• Local data is stored on your device using secure local storage.
• Shared list data is stored on Supabase cloud servers and transmitted over HTTPS.
• Audio recordings are transmitted over HTTPS for processing and are not permanently stored on our servers.

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share limited data with advertising partners to display ads within the App (see Section 1.4). Other data is shared only with the third-party services listed above, solely for the purposes described in this policy.

When you share a list, anyone with the shared list link can view and edit that list.

6. Data Retention

• Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
• Shared list data is stored on our servers as long as the shared list exists.
• Audio recordings are processed in real-time and not retained after transcription.

7. Children's Privacy

Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

You can:

• Delete your local lists at any time within the App
• Stop using the sharing feature to prevent cloud storage of your data
• Uninstall the App to remove all local data
• Cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
